MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, U.S. — Hansen-Mueller Co., an Omaha, Nebraska, U.S.-based company, purchased a commercial elevator in Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.
With access to rail and truck routes the 1.4 million-bushel facility is located at 648 24th Ave. SE.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to open our 20th location and have it be located in the Twin Cities,” said Stacie Jensen, director of human resources at Hansen-Mueller. “Minneapolis is part of our strategic trading platform. The Midwestern family-oriented work ethic can’t be replicated.”
Hansen-Mueller, a family owned business for the past 40 years, owns or operates 20 facilities throughout 10 states, including three port locations, and five feed mills, in addition to its grain storage facilities. The Minneapolis elevator is positioned in the midst of Hansen-Mueller’s footprint.
The latest acquisition follows the company’s purchase of more than 10 facilities in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota in the past three years.

Hansen-Mueller Co. Announces New Fremont, Neb. Facility
FREMONT, NE- (February 20, 2017) – Hansen-Mueller Co., a grain industry leader based in Omaha, Neb., announced today that they will locate a state-of-the-art bagging facility in Fremont, Neb. for animal and pet food products.
“We are happy to bring an expansion of our current operations to Fremont and become a part of this business community. We located an existing building that met our needs and were able to acquire that facility.” said Jack Hansen, founder and president of Hansen-Mueller Co.
Mayor Scott Getzschman of Fremont echoed Mr. Hansen’s sentiments. “This project is a great win for Fremont. The operations fit into our animal food manufacturing target industry, which speaks to why our community is a great fit for Hansen-Mueller Co.”
“It was a pleasure working with the Hansen-Mueller Co. team and supporting them as they explored Fremont,” said Cecilia Harry, executive director of the Greater Fremont Development Council. “They will be a great addition to our animal food manufacturing footprint and our greater business community.”
The first phase of the project will initially create 5 – 10 jobs with a multi-million dollar investment. The firm purchased a 60,000 square foot facility on South Union St. in Fremont. The operations will include state-of-the-art conventional and organic bagging lines for animal and pet foods packaged under a number of well-known brand names, several private label companies and Hansen-Mueller’s own branded products. The lines are designed to ensure that the integrity of the organic lines remains intact, which will deliver premium organic products to customers. Hansen-Mueller Co. believes there is tremendous potential for the project to grow in the future. They also appreciate that Fremont has made it possiblefor their contractors to stay in the community during the construction phase to maximize the positive impact the project will have on the community. Hansen-Mueller Co. is also happy to announce that long time Fremont resident, Kathy Butler, has been named as Facility Manager for the new operation.

Hansen-Mueller to purchase several assets from Interstate Commodities, Inc.
Hansen-Mueller Co., a grain industry leader based in Omaha, Neb., and Interstate Commodities, Inc., an international commodities merchandising and transportation company based out of Troy, N.Y., announced today that they have entered into an agreement under which Hansen-Mueller Co., will acquire a portion of Interstate Commodities Inc.’s assets located in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
This transaction will allow Hansen-Mueller Co., to move into the organic businesses and will equip Hansen-Mueller Co., with additional facilities, thereby increasing trade opportunities with several of its largest customers.
With harvest now upon us and farmers considering storage and sale options, Hansen-Mueller Co., saw this as a favorable time to expand.
“We believe this is a great fit for us and paves the way for our expansion into feed processing and organic processing and provides additional facilities in areas that expand our trading footprint,” said Jack Hansen, founder and president of Hansen-Mueller Co.
Through this purchase agreement, Hansen-Mueller Co. will assume ownership of eight new facilities in Lincoln and Valentine, Nebraska; Colome, Menno, White Lake, Gregory and Witten, South Dakota; and Merrill, Iowa. This agreement will include the transition of approximately 60 ICI employees to the Hansen-Mueller Co. team.
The deal is expected to be completed in November.
